Guitar Geekery
Just a few bits n’ bobs I use to make a lot of noise with. I will add some of my other stuff if and when I can be bothered.
New Gear page coming soon as most of this stuff has been sold etc.
At the moment I am using my RG565 (now burnt!) and my new RG2610Z into a Peavey 6505 with a TC G Major in the loop. Pics soon.
Ibanez RG565: An early 1990’s Ibanez RG 565.I picked this up on Ebay for a couple of hundred quid which was a steal. Loaded with an EMG 81 in the bridge and a EMG SA in the neck. This is now my main guitar. No tone control, as I never use them and always rip them out. I read an Eddie Van Halen interview years ago and he interviewer asked why no tone control?. Eddie replied” Volume is TONE!” The neck has had the horrible Ibanez finish sanded off. I like ‘em au natural. LoPro trem finishes things off nicley
(SOLD)EBay Jemmy Thingy: Custom made by me and Ebay! I had an old RG550 neck laying around that has just been added to over the years.Evo’s in the bridge position Again. The other pickups are IBZ pup’s which work great. The Swirl body was a good Ebay buy, made of Ash it is very light.I can get some serious stratty/funk sounds out of this beast. LoPro trem again.I can’t fault the Ibanez trems in anyway,I have always used them and probably allways will.
Peavey XXX SOLD: I have always played Laney amps, apart from a brief stint with a JCM800 during the 1980’s.But I have always struggled to find “my” chunk rhythm sound. Well the Peavey XXX has my dream chunk metal sound. The Crunch channel on this amp is awesome and it has inspired me no end.
Laney GH50L SOLD: The GH**L series Laneys are great little amps. For a single channel amp they are extremely versatile. This amp will always be very special to me. Very reliable.
Marshall 4×12: This cab has been with me since the mid 80’s.I sold it awhile back, then managed to re buy. It is a 1970’s Marshall 4×12 battered to f**k.Loaded with the original Celestion Greenbacks up top and Vintage 30’s at the bottom. Works well with the Peavey XXX.
